The GORE-TEX membrane is water and wind resistant to ensure maximum waterproofing, yet it allows the foot to breathe. How is this achieved? Thanks to the membrane with pores that are 20,000 times smaller than a water droplet, but 700 times larger than a water vapour molecule. This way, water cannot enter but the skin can breathe.
