Winter cycling jacket deals

Jackets are the biggest single category we track. Outgoing colourways are where the real money comes off, and a good winter jacket outlasts several seasons, so this is the piece of kit worth spending properly on.

Bib tights and bib shorts deals

Bib tights for the cold months, bib shorts for when spring arrives. Black Friday is a sensible time to stock up on both, because the pad is what wears out and a spare pair costs far less in the sale.

Gloves, overshoes and base layers

The small items that decide whether a winter ride is pleasant or miserable. Cold hands and feet end rides sooner than tired legs, and these are cheap enough to buy two of.

Cycling shoe deals

Road, gravel and MTB shoes over £40. Shoe sizing varies a lot between brands, so if you can, try a pair in a shop first or buy from a retailer with easy returns.

Women’s cycling kit deals

Women’s jackets, jerseys, bib tights and shorts with women-specific cuts and pads. Ranges are usually smaller than the men’s, so the popular sizes are worth checking early.

How to layer for a UK winter

British winter riding is rarely deep cold. It’s 3 to 8 degrees, damp and windy, which is harder to dress for. Build it in layers and you can buy each piece in the sale separately.

  1. 1

    Start with a base layer

Merino or a synthetic mesh next to the skin moves sweat away so you don’t chill on descents. Long or short sleeve, it does more for warmth than an extra jersey.

  2. 2

    Add a thermal jersey

A long-sleeve jersey with a brushed fleece inside covers most cold, dry days on its own with a base layer under it. Pockets matter: you will be carrying more in winter.

  3. 3

    Pick the right jacket

A softshell winter jacket handles cold and drizzle and breathes well. A fully waterproof shell is for proper rain. If you only buy one, most UK riders get more use from the softshell.

  4. 4

Bib tights, not shorts and leg warmers

Below about 10 degrees, thermal bib tights keep your knees warm and the wind off your back. Windproof front panels are worth having if your routes are exposed.

  5. 5

    Two pairs of gloves

A thin pair for mild mornings and a thick, windproof pair for the cold ones. One pair that tries to do both usually leaves you either sweaty or numb.

  6. 6

    Cover feet and head

Neoprene or windproof overshoes, warm socks and a thin cap or headband under the helmet. They are cheap, they pack small and they make the biggest difference to comfort.

Sizing and returns on sale kit

Clothing sizes are not consistent between brands. Race-cut kit, common among Italian brands, usually comes up smaller than relaxed or club-fit ranges, and a medium jacket from one brand can fit like a small from another. Always check the brand’s own size chart against your chest, waist and inside leg rather than going on the size you usually buy.

A few habits that save hassle:

  • Check the returns window before you buy. Some retailers shorten it for sale items, others extend it over Christmas. Know which you are dealing with.
  • Try kit on indoors with the tags on. Most retailers will refuse a return once it has been worn outside or washed.
  • Be careful with bib shorts and tights. Some retailers treat them as hygiene items and only accept returns unworn with the liner intact. Try them on over underwear.
  • Check your size first. A jacket that doesn’t fit is no use, whatever the discount.

Brands that discount well (and what they did in 2025)

On 6 October we had 252 live Rapha deals, 186 from Endura, 160 from Castelli and 134 from Altura. There is winter kit at a range of prices.

Retailers and brands have not announced 2026 Black Friday clothing offers yet (checked 6 October). Last year gives a good idea of what to expect. These are past offers, not current ones:

  • Rapha: 25% off sitewide in 2025, plus an archive sale with up to 50% off older colourways.
  • Castelli: tiered discounts of 10, 20, 25 and 30% across its autumn and winter collection in 2025.

Last season’s colours and the archive are where the larger savings usually sit. Brand sale pages: Rapha, Endura and Castelli.

Lights and a helmet to go with it?

The clocks go back on Sunday 25 October, so winter kit and good lights tend to be bought together. Our accessories page covers helmets, lights, locks and tyres.

Questions we get asked

Is Black Friday a good time to buy cycling clothing?

Yes. Clothing is consistently the most heavily discounted cycling category around Black Friday, especially outgoing colourways and winter ranges. Black Friday 2026 is Friday 27 November and Cyber Monday is Monday 30 November, and many offers run either side.

Should I buy a winter cycling jacket on Black Friday?

If you need one, it is one of the better times. You get the jacket at the start of the cold months, not the end, and discounts on outgoing colours can be substantial. Check your size is in stock before you get attached to the price, because popular sizes go first.

Do Rapha and Castelli have Black Friday sales?

Both did in 2025. Rapha ran 25% off sitewide plus an archive sale of up to 50%, and Castelli used tiered discounts of 10 to 30% on its autumn and winter range (past offers). Neither has announced 2026 plans yet (checked 6 October).

Is it worth buying bib shorts on Black Friday?

Often, yes. Bib shorts discount well in November because demand is low, and the pad is the part that wears out, so a spare pair bought in the sale is good value. Buy the size from the brand’s chart, and check the returns policy, as some retailers only accept unworn bibs.

Can I return cycling clothing bought in a sale?

Usually, from UK online retailers, if it is unworn and has its tags on. Policies differ, some shorten the window for sale items and some extend it over Christmas, and bib shorts are often treated as hygiene items. Check each retailer’s policy before you order.

What winter cycling kit should I buy first?

Gloves and a good winter jacket, then thermal bib tights. Those three make the most difference to comfort on a cold UK ride. Overshoes and a thin cap under the helmet are cheap next steps. Our layering checklist above covers the full set.
