How to tell a real Boxing Day deal

A big red percentage isn’t the same as a good price. Run through these before you buy.

  1. 1

    Check the lowest we’ve tracked

Every product page shows the lowest price we’ve recorded. If the “sale” price is higher than that, it’s been cheaper before.

  2. 2

    Compare every shop

The same product is often sold by several UK retailers. “Compare prices” shows them side by side, so you don’t pay more at the first shop you find.

  3. 3

    Look at the sizes left

Post-Christmas discounts often apply to whatever’s left. Check your size is in stock before you get excited about the price.

  4. 4

    Read the returns policy

Sale items can carry different return terms. Check how long you have and whether worn or used items can go back.

  5. 5

    Watch the was-price

A huge saving against an old RRP nobody paid isn’t a real saving. We hide reductions that look too good to be true.

  6. 6

    Stack a code

Some shops let you add a newsletter, student or NHS discount on top of sale prices. Check our discount codes page first.

Check for a code before you pay

Big gift? Use the scheme

Buy it through Cycle to Work

If they’re employed and their workplace runs the scheme, a bike or kit bundle can be paid for out of gross salary. On the basic rate, £100 of bike costs about £72 of take-home pay.

How Cycle to Work works

Don’t want to wait until Boxing Day?

Black Friday 2026 is Friday 27 November, with Cyber Monday on the 30th. It’s usually the cheapest week of the year for bikes, trainers and tech, and you won’t have to wait for the sales.

Questions we get asked

When are the Boxing Day cycling sales in 2026?

Boxing Day is Saturday 26 December 2026. None of the UK retailers we track have announced their Boxing Day sale dates yet (checked 3 November). Some shops start post-Christmas sales earlier and run them into January, so check back here.

Are Boxing Day bike deals better than Black Friday?

It depends on the product. Black Friday, Friday 27 November 2026, is usually the biggest sale week for bikes, trainers and tech. Post-Christmas sales can be good for clearing winter clothing and older models. Check the lowest price we’ve tracked before you buy.

What should I buy in the Boxing Day sales?

Things you’ll use in January and February: winter clothing, lights, smart trainers and bike computers. Our watch list above shows today’s cheapest in-stock price and the lowest we’ve tracked for each.

How do I know if a Boxing Day deal is genuine?

Compare the sale price with the lowest price we’ve tracked, check other retailers selling the same product, and make sure your size is in stock. A big percentage off an inflated RRP isn’t a real saving.

Can I use Christmas gift cards in the sales?

Usually, but check the card’s terms. Some can only be used in store or online, and some have expiry dates.

Can I use Cycle to Work in the Boxing Day sales?

It depends on your employer’s scheme provider and whether the retailer accepts it. Rules on sale items vary, so check with both before you order. Our Cycle to Work page explains how the scheme works.
