Click & collect. Some retailers let you order online and collect in store. Decathlon has stores across the UK, and Halfords runs a large chain of shops too (Halfords isn’t one of the retailers we link to). Check stock for your nearest branch before you set off, and collection times over the holidays.
A gift card. Most big bike shops sell gift cards, and many send digital ones by email. They suit fussy riders who’d rather choose their own saddle, shoes or pedals. Check whether the card can be used online, in store or both, and when it expires.
The price-tracked IOU. Pick a product from this page, open its “Compare prices” page and print it or send the link in a card. They get the surprise on Christmas Day, and you can buy it when it drops in the Boxing Day sales.
Wrap a promise. A day out together, a café ride, or a voucher for a bike service at their local shop all count as presents, and none of them needs a courier.
